Peter Lerman is an award-winning songwriter and composer for theater, television, and film. "Hipsters", Peter's latest stage musical presented as part of the 2017 NYSAF Powerhouse Theater season at Vassar College. His superhero musical, “Brooklynite,” (New York Times Critics' Pick) written with co-writer and Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer played a sold-out run Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre.  For his work in theater, Peter has won the Stephen Sondheim Young Artist Citation Award, the  I.A.L. Diamond Award from Columbia University for Achievement in the Arts, a Dramatists Guild Fellowship, the Jonathan Larson Award from the American Theatre Wing, and the Kennedy Center-ACTF Musical Theater Award. Peter has contributed music to the Emmy Award-winning comedy “Modern Family” on ABC, is a music and sound consultant for the "House Hunters" franchise on HGTV, and also developed a musical movie based on his songs and original concept for MTV Films. Peter is a graduate of Columbia University where he wrote music and lyrics for the Columbia Varsity Show.
